Website Plans

This 2.5.1 revision of the website was to clean up all the coding and directory structure so I could mothball it nicely when I put up the next version. Hopefully, all the links will work properly. It was precipitated by the web traffic limits imposed by the UBC web server and the move of the site over to Simplenet.

The next version of the website will include all the material from this old site, plus some new material. Some of the new material includes higher quality graphics, a rule encyclopedia, links database, etc. However, it's going to take awhile to do it.

The Timothy Jacques material is a bit of problem -- it's just TOO BIG and doesn't fit in with the rest of the AVRO stuff. Considering this, I'll be transforming the entire stuff into a different website entirely (easier to manage).

Upcoming Events

The next event will be either June 1999 or June 2000. Probably on a Saturday. It depends on how much time I'll have to redevelop the website and design an entirely new arena. It will probably be a combined duelling & racing championships.

What's New

February 10, 1999

Finally finished that darn 1997 Club championship report. Now I can put this updated site on the web. Will be redirecting visitors over to the Simplenet site to prevent the lockdown of the site that seems to happen alot at UBC. (Note: I'll probably move the site again within a year, once [if ever] I get the new site up & running.)

January 4, 1999

Oi! Big break in update times. Basically, I just cleaned up the HTML code and made sure the scripts would work on other servers. Also changed the directory structure to a simpler version.

August 8, 1996

Finished off and uploaded last pieces of Version 2.5. Added the Strange vehicle section, a nice Avro Arrow picture in the History section, a few more heading pictures, and a few more reports (e.g. Canadian Regionals).

Next event will take place in January, 1997. It will be the combined Club Duelling & Racing Championships. The arena to be used will be the newly renovated Town Arena. Both events will be held simultaneously in this arena. Full interaction (and combat) between the two events will be encouraged.

July 27, 1996

Uploaded Version 2.5. Adds new Vehicle section, a better Link page, more reports, and better interface design. Images cleaned up and reduced in size. Section heading pictures introduced. Introduction and history section integrated to make a much stronger History section.

July 10, 1996

Redesigned toolbar. Tore apart image-maps.

July 2-8, 1996

Put up version 2.2b. Added new sections, updated a few, enjoyed a few nervous breakdowns.

Corrected HTML coding, added new pictures, and more head-banging.

May 19, 1996

Seriously edited the text. Added Arrow pictures

May 18, 1996

Edited some of the text. Added lots of links. Upgraded all pages to the new toolbar. Fixed that blasted counter again.

May 17, 1996

Finally figured out how to do image maps -- took 16 computer crashes, a trip to technical services, and a bit of head-to-wall bashing.

May 16, 1996

Corrected file problems on server that was screwing up some of the web page graphics. Fixed counter.

May 15, 1996

First attempt at making an image map for toolbar -- failure. Reinstalled old toolbar. Left toolbar in Links page for experimentation.

May 14, 1996

First attempt at installing web site into server -- Mixed results. Counter doesn't work.

April - May, 1996

Creation of the AVRO web site. Delayed due to computer, software and server crashes.
