Version 2.5.1
I lie awake, too anxious to sleep. Tomorrow is the day I feast on the beating heart of my nemesis, RJ. Too many times have I awaken from the cloning nutrient fluids. Too many times have I been sent back into them. RJ shall pay for the indignities he has heaped upon me.
RJ has stolen victories that rightfully belonged to me. RJ has killed that which I had proclaimed to be mine to kill. RJ has KILLED me far too many times with stock vehicles that I have made. Too many times has he DARED have BETTER lunches than me! But worst of all, HE STOLE MY HATCHET TECHNIQUE!!! HE SHALL PAY!!!!
Bwwwwaaahhhhh!!! (snort) Bwwwwaaahhhhh!!! (snort) Bwwwwaaahhhhh!!!
Welcome to another action packed edition of Car Warriors!. My name is Tank U, your host for this special feature on the 1997 AVRO championships.
AVRO made Car Wars history today by running a combined duelling & racing championships. You heard it folks, 2 separate events held within the same arena at the same time! Full interaction encouraged!
This special championships was held within the custom-built arena simply called "THE CITY!". Built by AVRO president, Bruce, it features a confusing collage of buildings, jumps and gas pumps that racers and duellists alike must wind or ram their way through.
When asked why he built such an elaborate arena, Bruce simply stated, "RJ!!! VENGEANCE SHALL BE MINE!!!!!!"
However, this was just not the case. During the event, Bruce was found laying down a deadly dense field of napalm proximity-fused & radio controlled mines in the centre of the course in an effort to control the key checkpoint to the event. Champion RJ stopped this insidious activity with a head-on ram. Bruce's vehicle, disabled by twin ATG blasts and the crushing of his engine, plowed to a stop while his fiery napalm mines continued to spew forth.
With devious cunning, RJ began pushing Bruce's dead vehicle backwards over top of his own mines! At once, Bruce scrambled from his vehicle, desperate to escape the combustion that was sure to follow.
Just as he escaped, Bruce's vehicle burst into flames. Screaming in wordless rage, Bruce leapt onto RJ's vehicle. In a cheap copycat of the infamous RJ maneuver, Bruce began viciously hacking through the RJ's roof with his ever present hatchet.
Nonplused by this insanity, RJ swung his vehicle around and propelled it towards the nearest building. As Bruce smashed through the final barriers protecting RJ, RJ rammed through the building, scraping the pitiful remains of Bruce off his roof.
But enough gruesome these gruesome details. Let's interview the still-reigning champion, RJ.
Fire...
Pain...
Darkness...
Is this...all that's left? No more clones...No more money...Only death...
Fading...
...footsteps...
...shadows...approach...
"My lord...", the shadows whisper...
"You are dying...", they say...
My soul grows cold...
"We can help..."
I try to laugh, but choke on my own blood...
"We can offer you life..."
More pain...
"power..."
An illusion...
"revenge..."
VENGEANCE! RJ! To dance on his grave! YES!!!!!
"Do you accept our gift?"
"Yesss...", a strangled whisper was all that I could muster.
"As it was foretold, HE has accepted. The dark one shall rise once more. Administer the holy spam..."
Once more...the night...claims...victory...on......my..........soul.......
To Be Continued...
Despite the best efforts of hatchet-wielding maniacs and suicidal race car drivers, RJ has emerged again as AVRO club champion for racing & duelling. In AVRO's first test of speed & might, competitors were subjected to a simultaneous Div 40 racing and Div 30 duelling events that were both held within AVRO's second 3-D generation arena, "The CITY!" (Sorry, couldn't help myself -- I'm a bit of a Tick fan.) In a brief 23 seconds, Randy cleared the field of his opponents, leaving only smoking remnants.
Total point spread: RJ = 80 pts. (1st place), Bruce = 12 pts. (2nd place), and AE = 5 pts. (3rd place).
Race: RJ = 1st place (finished course), Bruce = 2nd place (covered 4 checkpoints), and AE = 3rd place (covered 3 checkpoints).

This combined racing and duelling championships allowed duellists to enjoy the full confusion of crowded battle conditions, while providing racers a dangerously unpredictable race course. High speed and careful handling class marked the race portion of the championships. The duel portion merely involved mass destruction of the entire arena.
Bruce's duelling car surrounded the centre checkpoint with proximity-fused radio-controlled mines, making it virtually impassable to the race cars and trapping RJ's race car within. Bruce's race car tried to pass through this barrier, but he crashed, rolled and burned. RJ found an interesting method of opening this barrier by disabling Bruce's duelling car and then pushing the car over top of the mines. Rather distressed by this turn of events, Bruce jumped out of his vehicle and jumped onto the top of RJ's duelling car, and proceeded to attack with a hatchet. RJ scraped this annoying pest off his roof by ramming through a building.
RJ's duel car was then rammed by AE's duel car, thus disabling RJ. RJ then resorted to taking potshots at AE's tires. RJ's race car joined the fray by ramming AE's duel car; this was an unwise idea as he nearly confettied himself. However, the distraction proved effective as it allowed RJ to destroy 2 of AE's tires, thus immobilizing it as well. AE jumped out of his vehicle and attempted to destroy RJ by hand, but RJ ended this sad last attempt.
Realizing that he had little chance finishing the race course before RJ, AE's race car attempted to ram RJ's race car into a building. Fortunately, RJ was able to speed away to the finish with the help of nitrous oxide, leaving AE to crash through the building.
Bruce died a particularly gruesome death this time (twice). The usefulness of the Town arena has been established. Further modifications of simultaneous duelling and racing events will be undertaken.
The Town (AKA "The CITY!") Arena is available for viewing in the Arenas section.
