Dial-Up Settings

  1. Click on the Start button.
  2. Click on Control Panel. Check WinXP
  3. Click on Network and Internet Connections. Check WinXP
  4. Click on Internet Options. Check WinXP
  5. Click once on Seanet (Default). Then click on Settings. Check WinXP
  6. Use your fully qualified username.

    premier1.net username@premier1.net
    ncia.com username@seanet.com
    XP encrypts your password so it might look longer than usual. You can retype in your password if you like. Domain should remain blank. Click on Advanced. Check WinXP
  7. These options are user preference. Click OK when done. Click on Properties. Check WinXP
  8. Check the Phone number. Put all 10 digits in the Phone number field. Uncheck Use dialing rules. Click on Configure. Check WinXP
  9. Lower the Maximum speed to 57600. If you are using a hardware modem leave the check boxes marked in Hardware features. If you are using a software modem The modem name will usually say "Soft" "Win" or "HSF" in it then uncheck all the Hardware features. Uncheck Show terminal window. Enable modem speaker is user preference. Click on OK. Check WinXP
  10. These are user preference. Click on X.25. Check WinXP
  11. Select (none) for Network. All other fields should be blank. Click on OK. Check WinXP
  12. Select Typical (recommended settings). Select Allow unsecure password. All other options should remain unchecked. Check WinXP
  13. Select PPP: Windows 95/98/NT4/2000, Internet. Check Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). Click on Settings. Check WinXP
  14. Check Enable LCP extensions. Check Enable software compression. Uncheck Negotiate multi-link for single link connections. Click on OK. Check WinXP
  15. Click on Properties. Select Obtain an IP address automatically. Select Use the following DNS server addresses. Preferred DNS Server is 199.181.164.1. Alternate DNS Server is 199.181.164.2. Click on Advanced. Check WinXP
  16. Check User default gateway on remote network. Check Use IP header compression. Check WinXP
  17. Verify that 199.181.164.1 and 199.181.164.2 are in the DNS server addresses field. Select Append these DNS suffixes (in order). Click on Add and type in seanet.com then click on OK. Uncheck Register this connection's addresses in DNS. Check WinXP
  18. There should be nothing in the WINS addresses field. Check Enable LMHOSTS lookup. Select Disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP. Keep clicking on OK until you are all the way back out and you can close the Network and Internet connections window. YOU'RE DONE! Check WinXP
