Council Increases Fees

In anticipation of the passage of Initiative 695, the Renton City Council unanimously approved the following fee and tax increases on October 24, 1999:

  • Golf lesson fees: Increases in every category, ranging from $5-$20
  • Animal license fees: Increased fees for ownership of cats and dogs, ranging from $1.50-$7. The fees will cover a 2-year period instead of 1-year.
  • Utility rates for the Year 2000: Increase in solid waste utility rates by 2 percent. This equates to about 25 cents a month for a residential customer, or about $5.40 per month for a commercial account.

    There will be no rate increases in water and wastewater rates (at least at the time this article was written).
