Just a quick note: This league began based on real players and their real historical stats. All embellishments about league events are about the simulation, not the actual people, and are the product of my imagination.

Notes for the Week

Collective gain 3 games this week, are 7-1 in last 2 weeks. Destroyers 6-2 in last 2. Islanders pass Barristers by going 4-0, Barristers 0-4, 1-9 last 2 weeks.

How about Frank Viola of the Jets moving towards the leaders with a 2.91 ERA? Ray Brown pulled off lowering his ERA .12 with a shut out (1 UnE run). McCovey qualifies with a bang! Leads Slugging. Lazzeri (E) moves up in 2Bs and 3Bs.

In the last two weeks. . . Granolas hot streak includes a pair of wins each by Hippo Vaughn (3-1) and Bill Singer (3-3), finally get back towards last season's 13-1 stride. Sparky Lyle (E) picked up two saves. Aaron had really picked it up before his minor injury, raising his average from .076 to .243 and knocking his first 4 dingers. Lew Fonseca continues to amaze, bringing his average up to .357, including a few two-baggers. Tony Lazzeri (E) makes use of the LA Coliseum, adding 3 triples to his total.

Ted Williams (H) started out the season 3-23 (.173) and was hitting .216 when he took off, going 11-22 with 3 doubles and 2 HRs in a week to raise his average 76 points and his slugging 168 points. Gehrig (I): 0-23 in weeks 7,8. Was 8-15 in week 6. George Foster (J): 9-25 (.360) to start the season, then 9-59 to lower his average to .214. McCovey (F): 7-12 week 6, 4-22 weeks 7, 8. 4 HRs week 9. At .300, his BA is 55 points higher than his best season.

Willie Wells (D): 3-24 to start the season (.125), then 10-14 to triple his average. Funny, he garnered only 2 RBI with those 10 hits, whereas he had 5 on his previous 3. RBIs came in week 4, 10 in 5 games. He followed that up with 14 in his next 15 games before getting hurt.

CampanellaRoy	Egrets	7/10/94:
He did it running after a passed ball. Looks like his cleats didn't grab in the warning
track behind home plate and he wiped out into the wall. He lay motionless on the
ground for about 15 seconds before he starting moaning and rithing about.

LoftonKenny	Frangos	7/3/94: Unfortunately, it seems to be a tear rather
than a strain in the bicep...prospects don't look great.

	6
GibsonJosh	Frangos	Check up date adjusted because Ruth was healthy and not
put it. * moved it up 6 days and dropped the risk 50 points.	4
MorganJoe	Hayseeds	7/14/94: It looked like Joe was ready, but he re-sprained
his ankle while he was warming up, and the docs want him on the shelf for 2 weeks
-- no questions asked. Joe had been hassling the docs for the last week.

KalineAl	Hayseeds	6/26/94: There's discussion about moving back the wall
at LA Coliseum.

	1
McCormickBuck	Hayseeds	Chance dove back to first, right into McCormick's
knee, just after he planted it firmly.	1

SislerGeorge	Allouets 2
RobinsonFrank	Allouets	Wow. No new injury, but it looks like he is going
to need lots of bedrest. Some insiders speculate that he has not been taking care of
himself.
	2
CuylerKiki	Barristers	7/12/94:
Kiki begins the long, slow rehab of the shoulder. He's sticking to regimen, but
doctors have not OK'ed him for even light workouts. The surgery has been
successful, but the sewing did not "take" as naturally as sometimes happens.
	4
AaronHank	Barristers	7/8/94:
See game notes.
	1
SimmonsTed	Barristers 2
CuylerKiki	Barristers	6/24/94: It's not looking good, his shoulder seems to have
a more severe rotator cuff tear than previously thought. It's not a complete cut,
though, so he is expected back this season.	3
CobbTy	Barristers 2
AppierKevin	Collective 1
FoxxJimmie	Collective	7/10/94:
See previous note. He tried a practice game yesterday, and he is feeling pretty bad
today. Foxx was disappointed by the setback, he felt he could really help his team.
He was encouraged by their play, and their support of him, and he looks like he'll
follow doctors orders and be back in a week or two.
	5
SpeakerTris	Collective 1
MaysWillie	Collective	Still sore, looks like surgery...	4
GibsonBob	Collective	Strained back, probably. He's got such a long motion, and
he was really working hard, was getting worked over pretty good. He's such a
competitor, he didn't want to come out of the game, but couldn't get himself off the
trainer's table once on it. 1
FoxxJimmie	Collective	7/9/94:
Finally, after 32 days, it looks like Foxx has a chance to be healthy again. The sore
joints, which may have indicated early onset arthritis, seem to be responding to rest
and medication. He's swinging ok now, but doesn't have much quickness left (like
he had some before).
	4
CharlestonOscar	Collective	6/23/94: He continues to run to quickly, doesn't
want to wait. It's a hamstring, atleast, but the strain of going full speed has brought
to surface what were probably otherwise minor ailments - a few bone spurs, a sore
quad. They'll probably scope the spurs tomorrow, as long as he's out. It'll be a
while, but he'll be back if he can just stick to the schedule.

WanerLloyd	Islanders	7/13/94: Lloyd's surgery went very well, and he
should rehab nicely (in the minors). He should be ready in a few weeks.
