WADA Car Wars League
Rules and Regulations

A WADA Car Wars League is a tournament where Car Wars players around the world compete against each other for championship points for a calendar year. At the end of the tournament, the participant with the most points is declared the WADA World Champion Autoduelist of the year.

Timeline
A WADA Car Wars League will start on January 1st and end on December 31st.

The last day to submit results for a WADA Car Wars League is January 15th of the following calendar year.

Groundhog Day, February 2nd, should be the date when the standings of the tournament are final and a champion is declared.

Guidelines

All games submitted for a WADA Car Wars League tournament must have a minimum of four players for any championship points to be awarded.

Play-by-Internet (play-by-e-mail, VASSAL, instant messaging, etc.) games are permissible for the tournament.

More than four events in a month may be submitted for WADA points, however only the four events in a single month that earn the participant the most points will be counted.

A multi-round tournament is considered one event.

All Car Wars games at one convention are considered one event.

Results of events should be submitted using the WADA Car Wars League Event Report Form within 30 days of events via e-mail to SWAT HQ.

Any type of Car Wars game can be played in the WADA Car Wars League, however it is recommended most events should be duels or races.

Additional Divisions decided upon by the players (Division 5 Pro from Car Wars Fifth Edition, for example) are acceptable for WADA Car Wars League events.

The rules used are up to the discretion of the event's referee and players, but WADA recommends games be operated according to the rules found in Car Wars Compendium Second Edition Fifth Printing, Car Wars Classic, Uncle Albert's Catalog From Hell and rules found on the Web page below.

WADA Car Wars League events can also be operated according to Car Wars Fifth Edition rules.

Variant or house rules are permitted in a WADA Car Wars League event as long as all players in the game agree to those rules changes.

Scoring

Four duelists are the minimum number required for an event to qualify for WADA points.

Every player, except the first-place finisher, in a WADA Car Wars League event with four or more players will receive championship points based on their finishing position and the total number of players present, based on the following formula. These "Participation Points" are awarded in addition to the bonus points described below.

Entering Combat: [ (number of entrants + 1) - place finished ] * round of the tournament

Bonus points are awarded to autoduelists who finish in first, second, and third place.

First Place: 5 * number of players * round of tournament
Second Place: 2 * number of players * round of tournament.

Third Place: 1 * number of players * round of tournament. Awarded only if there are six or more players in the event.

Championship points for ties are awarded by adding together the championship points for all of the positions in the tie then dividing by the number of players in the tie. Bonus Points and Participation Points are used in this formula.

Example: Players in a three-way tie for first place in a 12-person duel would normally receive 60, 35 (24 + 11), and 22 (12 + 10) points for first, second, and third, respectively, if the tie did not exist. Because of the tie, each of the three duelists would receive 39 [ (60 + 35 + 20) / 3 ] points.

In a gaming group or demonstration session, the round of the tournament shall be considered as 1.

In preliminary matches, the round of the tournament shall be considered as 1, and each successive round will increase by 1.

Statistics

The statistics and information below should be recorded and calculated for each autoduelist in the WADA Car Wars League during the duration of the tournament.
Number of Opponents Faced = Number of Players - Number of Events

Winning Percentage = Number of Events / Number of Event Wins

Average OPE (Opponents Per Event) = Number of Opponents / Number of Events

Average VKPE (Vehicular Kills Per Event) = Number of Events / Number of Vehicular Kills

Vehicular Kills

Vehicular kills will be recorded but they will not affect championship points totals. When recording event results, vehicular kills should be described as Firepower Kills (FK), Mobility Kills (MK),
Completed Kills (CK), and Total Kills (TK).

When recording autoduelist statistics on the Web, the trophy and helmet images below are useful for providing a graphical representation of an autoduelist's achievements with the statistics above. These images were designed by James D. Barton, Ph.D. of Melbourne, Australia.
