Car Combat Miniature Scales for
Car Wars
The scale of the original Car Wars game is 1 inch equals 15 feet. A
car counter is 1" in length and 0.5" in width. A motorcycle is 0.5"
in length and 0.5" in width. Several sets of miniatures in this
size, 1X Car Wars scale, have been published since Car Wars was
first published in 1981. Most of those miniatures are out of print.
Many Car Wars players have created their own gaming components to
use larger miniatures. Production of 3X Car Wars scale gaming
materials permits inexpensive and widely available 1/64 scale
die-cast cars to be used. The short-lived Car Wars Fifth Edition was
set in 3X Car Wars scale.
Car Wars players have produced materials in 1.5X Car Wars scale to
use Micro Machines miniatures that were available in the 1990s and
early 2000s.
Car Wars Sixth Edition is currently being developed by Steve Jackson
Games. The game will be set in 2X Car Wars scale.
A few Car Wars players have used Lego cars for 6X Car Wars scale
games, 1/24 scale models for 8X Car Wars scale games, and even
Tonka-style vehicles for 16X Car Wars scale games.
