Version 2.5.1
"It was a dark and stormy knight..." This phrase echoed through my thoughts as I floated in my cloning chamber.
My repeated failures to annihilate that sewer rat, RJ, had led me to seek new allies. Whispers at AADA headquarters bespoke of a band of cold-hearted warriors who would be perfect for my needs. In the darkest recesses of Langley, I found them lurking.
There was a new breed of scum in town. Cold, cunning and ruthless -- they reminded me of myself many clones ago. Young and cocky, the promise of blood was all that I needed to lure them into the battle. This time, the odds were in my favour...
...or so I thought. Like a penguin to a popsicle, RJ took to the new snow & ice arena. Upon entering, he immediately rammed through an opponent. One after another, RJ gobbled down his foes like a penguin does fish; all were in awe of his prowess that day. My so-called allies were quivering in their shorts.
When he turned his hungry eyes upon them, those pathetic pups panicked. Treacherously, they turned on me in hopes of mercy. Lacking a rolled up newspaper, I knocked them away as best as I could. However, their sheer numbers (2 in all) prevailed and I was destroyed. My only satisfaction was that the Vancouver Dark Knights did not make out alive either.
A dark and stormy knight stood between me and my righteous vengeance. RJ, you were lucky this time. But revenge is a dish best served cold. And the ice arena is so very cold indeed. When next we meet, I swear I shall make penguin stew out of you!!
No penguins have been or will be hurt during Bruce's ranting. However, Bruce is another matter entirely.
RJ was a maniac in this battle. He destroyed three larger opponents; one of them three seconds after the start. He also demonstrated superior hockey abilities by scoring two goals. He also enjoyed Bruce's rather pitiful efforts at destroying him.
This Division 30 battle consisted of 11 opponents. The AVRO members were: Bruce, RJ, BT, DA, AE, MS, BG, KW & DL. The VDK members were: ST & KA.
The point system went as follows:
In the end, the point spread was: RJ=20 pts., BT=12 pts.; DA=6 pts.; KA=5 pts.; ST, Bruce, BG=0 pts.; MS, AE=-1 pts.; DL=-3 pts.; and KW=-4 pts.

RJ scored the first kill right after the initial no-firing/ramming period. KW was annihilated by the combination of RJ's ATG and ramming power.
BT was the first player to attempt a jump to the center circle. Unfortunately, it was his last attempt. While in mid-air, AE shot at BT's underbody, breached, and destroyed his engine. BT landed successfully and slid to a stop. Fortunately, his weapons (9 LMG w/IC ammo) could still impact on the rest of the battle. That pyromaniac was able to destroy 2 competitors and set fire to a few more before being forced out of his trike and to his death.
AE was set on fire by BT as revenge for his cowardly attack. Wisely, AE jumped out of his car and commandeered the remains of BG's car. However, that car was also set on fire. Desperate, AE set out to commandeer yet another car. Fortunately, the other players were getting sick of his silliness and knocked him out.
The 1993 Canadian Regional Championships ended with a 82% fatality rate. RJ had won again. VDK was vanquished. Bruce was dead. Not bad for AVRO's first regionals.
This first prototype of the Ice Arena was surrounded by a snowy border. It was later deemed distracting and was removed. However, players enjoyed the new twist to autoduelling that the hockey arena provided.
