The Christian Coalition was founded by Pat "The feminist agenda... encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians" Robertson, and forged into a potent secular political power by Ralph  "We have become a permanent political fixture" Reed.

ChristCo is part of Robertson's church/state media empire, which includes the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), The Family Channel (spun off from CBN in 1990 but still owned by Robertson), and the 700 Club, which the Wall Street Journal called "A shrewd blend of newsmagazine, talk show and religious revival".
