Expecting You
We expect the most beautiful mate
To be our desire
Not this plain person in normal attire
We expect the Mercedes Benz
For our car to be
Not the Volkswagen Bus
With a family of three
We expect the southern mansion
On those shady acres
To be our home
Not the mobile house
Not the crowded knoll
Not the fat and angry spouse
Not all the responsibility
We get what we need
Not what we want
That's how life seems to be
Makes one wonder, often times
What to do with
All those broken dreams
We use our sense of humor
And throw it all to the wind
We say to ourselves
"It doesn't matter now."
"What matters now, is
What we feel within."
