Mac OS X PPP Configuration

  1. Under the Apple Menu in the top left hand corner of the screen select System Preferences. OS X
  2. Select the Network icon. OS X
  3. In the network panel select Modem or Internal modem from the menu next to Show. Location should be set to Automatic. OS X
  4. On the TCP/IP tab select Configure: Using PPP. Then specify the Seanet domain name DNS servers. OS X
  5. Next select the PPP tab. Under service provider type Seanet. In the telephone number field enter a local Seanet access number. Enter your username in all lowercase characters. Your username is your email address. For example customer@seanet.com or customer@premier1.net. OSX
  6. Click on the PPP Options button. Check “Connect automatically...” Uncheck “Prompt every xx minutes...”. All other options should be kept at their defaults. Click OK. OSX
  7. Click on the modem tab. If you have an Apple internal modem then these defaults should remain the same. If you have any other type of modem such as an external modem select it from the list. Click on the Show modem status in menu bar box. This will give you a useful menu item up near the clock that lets you connect, disconnect and check modem status. Click Apply Now or quit the System Preferences to save the changes. OSX
  8. To connect to the internet you may either open up your email or web browser and it will connect automatically for you. You may also go up to the modem status icon next to the clock and select connect from there. This is also where you would disconnect when you are finished using the internet. OSX
