Falls statistics

What went right?
The Falls tore the cover off the ball, leading the ACL with 268 homers, 31 more than pennant winner and World Series champ Seaview. Ted Williams got MVP consideration for his .322 average and 40 homers, and Joe DiMaggio belted 50 taters while hitting a modest .280. The Falls had two of the leagues top winners in Bob Feller (18-12) and Hal Newhouser (17-10).

What went wrong?
While Snoqualmie was first in homers and slugging, they were LAST in on-base percentage with a paltry .311. They must have driven Williams crazy! That meant many of those homers were solo shots. Hank Greenberg went down with back woes after 115 games. He had 32 cranks in that time. After the big two the pitching staff dropped off, though Spud Chandler went 13-8, 2.86 while making 20 starts.

Boudreau was fourth in wins among AL mangers in the '40s. Joe McCarthy, manager of Renton, was tops and Joe Cronin, a player for Renton, was the number two winner. Mack got the job as number three. The door opened for Boudreau when Mack moved on to manage the expansion Lumberjacks.
