Domestic ViolenceOctober (1996) was "Domestic Violence Awareness Month." I realize that this should be of awareness all year around, and especially during the holidays. To help in this awareness, I have typed up information that I have received from our "Women's Center" at Green River Community College. They are below in the information listings. I also have them available for downloading in Microsoft Word files. If you need them in any other format, please email me and I will get them to you as soon as I can. Many people are very lucky to have never been abused. It can happen to anyone regardless of race or ethnic background, level of education, sexual orientation, religion or marital status. There are some who haven't been so lucky, some of us have experienced the mental pain, confusion, and the injuries. Not to mention what the children of the abused go through. Many may not understand why someone would want to stay in a relationship of abuse or subject the children to such things. It happens and all we can do is be there for our friends or loved ones when they need us. Below you will find ways that you can help, or even copy the information and pass it to the person that needs it. Everyone, Be Safe and Be Well. PS.. For those of you who might need counseling, I recommend my counselor who is tops in her field and my best friend.
