January 2008: Late in 2007, I bought a Nutrimill, hence the Whole Grains. I also developed some serious legume cravings, hence the Beans. I decided that having been so successful with dietary adjustment over the years (eliminating dairy, shellfish, etc.) and enjoying such good health as a result, I might as well go one more: reduce sodium and try to get the water retention under control (since everyone asks: no, I don't have high blood pressure). And, it being January, I'm also doing a little cleaning and organizing and that means, here, retiring recipes I haven't used in several years and don't anticipate ever using again.
Until I get them put up, Hoppin' John can be found in Aliza Green's bean cookbook, available in several formats under different titles; the Hoppin' John Fritters can be found in the Cafe Flora cookbook. My whole wheat bread recipe is the Basic Whole Wheat Bread recipe out of the Laurel's Kitchen Bread Book and I do recommend using brown rice syrup for the sweetener.
