 | Bill Ritchie's Printmaking On-line
Daniel Smith, Inc Demonstration (1997) | |
Advertised as “Printmaking On-line,” it took 75-minutes and consisted of Bill's inking, wiping and printing his engraving, immediately capturing the fresh image with video, and putting it on the World Wide Web.
The audience only saw Bill print the plate and then put the print on-line; they did not see how he engraved the copper plate. You can get glimpses of the way he engraved it by looking at selected pages in Engraving On-line. Merely click on the highlighted words.

Above: This image is the result of a demonstration given at Daniel Smith Inc, in Seattle, in November of 1996. The image is fuzzy because Bill simpley pointed a video camera and captured a snapshot image of this print, "Hand-made Dog" immediately after printing it. Measuring 12 inches high by 9 inches, it is printed on Van Gelder Zonen paper laminated (by the Chine colle process) with a handmade paper.
