The High Velocity Duelling Car Wars Mailing List (HVD CWML) was a Car Wars E-Mail newsletter published bi-weekly. The editor of HVD, James D. Barton, Ph.D., published the HVD CWML from November 1996 to February 1998. Because of university commitments, Dr. Barton ended publication of the CWML in February 1998.

Refusing to let such a valuable resource for Car Wars pass into history, SWAT volunteered to publish the HVD CWML. Dr. Barton approved the change in editor status in 1998 and donated the HVD CWML Archive to SWAT. The name CWML was changed to CWIN and its frequency was changed from bi-weekly to monthly.

Many of the links in the issues of the HVD CWML are no longer functional, including the URLs of all HVD Web sites that have been offline since 2002. Some of these links may provide information by entering them into the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine.

SWAT is slowly archiving many of HVD's files to its Web site in 2010 and 2011. Operational links to those resources will be displayed on the SWAT HQ Front Page.
