Tavern on the Green

Tavern on the Green is a very nice restaurant right in Central Park. The weather was on the warm side the evening we were there, but it was still pleasant dining al fresco.

This was the view from our table in the patio when we arrived. It was a generally quiet and soothing atmosphere. The food was outstanding. We even had haricots verts! (Yes, that's the way they were listed on the menu. Maybe they should have been called Freedom Beans for all the xenophobes.)

As the evening wore on, of course, more alchohol was consumed, and it got a bit noisier. By the time we were eating dessert, there were a bunch of people out in the dance area groovin' to the beat of such musical ambrosia as Bachman Turner Overdrive and the Bee Gees. We somehow held our food down.

Here are a couple of more photos of Tavern on the Green, this time inside the main building. Colored glass and mirrors everywhere! Very impressive, actually.
