Museum of Modern Art
We both love modern art (even though we really don't know enough about it to say pretentious stuff
like "It's provocative, yet unassuming" or "It has a quiet intensity"), so MOMA was a priority stop on the New York tour for us.
Now, when you're too cheap to buy prints of all the paintings you like, you "cheat" by taking pictures of
them in the museum, then cropping the pictures. This is what we've done here, as you can tell my the fact
that most of them are horribly distorted. I could try to convince you that because they're
works of modern art, they were already intentionally distorted in the museum, but only the very
most intellectually challenged would believe that, and I don't expect this site to be visited by George W. Bush anyway.
Here are a few of our favorites...
The Sleeping Gypsy by Henri Rousseau
False Mirror by René Magritte
Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh
Soup Cans by Andy Warhol
Pines and Rocks by Paul Cézanne
Endless and profuse thanks to the brilliant and art-savvy Samantha G. for being the first to identify this
painting correctly. (Did I get that right, Sam?)
Many thanks also to my little sis, Val, who came up with the same information about three hours later.
Yet another one we liked (okay, I liked), but can no longer identify.
Here's a typical museum patron taking a much-needed break from the physical demands associated with being an
art connoisseur.
