Standard Illuminated Cow
We rode a train up to a little mountainside village called Mürren. It's a pretty popular destination in the summer, we hear, but by the time we got there, they were battoning down the hatches for winter. Lots of repair work being done, and not too many places open for overnight stays. It's probably just as well, because we were up there during the middle of the day, and it was really cold!
We noticed an interesting cultural difference between Switzerland and the U.S. (In fact, in this particular case, the difference was between Switzerland and everywhere else we've been.) Take a good look at the contents of this vending machine. The item you see right next to the LED readout over on the right-hand side, right in there with the candy, etc., is a package of condoms. I guess either they don't have 24-hour drug stores, or they're really, really impulsive...
