Amy & Whit's place

This was our first trip to New York since May 2001, when our friends Amy & Whit got married. This time around, they were kind enough to let us use their apartment while they took a cruise from Vancouver to Alaska and back. Their apartment is on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, on the bank of the Hudson river.

Here are some pictures of their gorgeous view, and of their extremely entertaining cat, Kiki, whom we were catsitting while there.

Looking west across the Hudson: These boats all seemed to be going somewhere in a hurry.

The view was so beautiful at night, we just had to take some photos. Here's one now!

Amy & Whit's cat, Kiki, pretty much runs the place. As far as he was concerned, we were just taking up precious space in his private domain. You may be able to tell from this picture, which was taken early in our visit, that his patience with us is already wearing perilously thin.

Kiki loves his daily baths. Mind you, we're not talking about a normal kitty bath merely involving cat spit being rubbed via paw onto the subject's own furry face and ears. No, this cat takes real human-type baths right there in the bathtub! As we had been instructed, we just turned on the faucet and Kiki would hop in and spend 15 to 20 minutes in pure feline bliss, being dribbled on to his heart's content.

This gives you an idea of who's in charge here. Not Al Haig, that's for sure.
