It is with great sorrow that I announce the end of the Netters' Dinner. We've been joking about it for a decade and it's finally arrived.
We had a good run. The Netters' Dinner gathered for 26 years, occasionally gracing both coasts back in the days when MacWorld Boston was running. We saw the advent of the Graphical User Interface in black and white along with the many varied mice we've grown to love and hate. We've seen supercomputers migrate to our pockets, bring just that much more Star Trek technology to our lives. Our disks went from 400K to 3T (3,000,000,000K). Our tiny screens grew and grew and then shrank and shrank so that we now have more pixels in our pockets than we did on our desks.
I'm sorry we can't continue, but the hassle factor has exceeded a threshold for many people and our numbers have dwindled to levels insufficient to support our gathering.
Take care and I'll see you on the Internet.
Ilene Hoffman may still have the Hess Memorial Party List up.
