Body Finishing and Prep For Paint
Work is proceeding apace. I found I didn't shoot the lead work on the panel seams-bummer. I did real good for my first effort. The used panels I had sandblasted turned out to be warped because the idiot who blasted them overheated the sheet metal. Not too bad, but they all required surface smoothing. Also, the new front fenders of course had the usual assortment of dings and creases common to Nissan body parts of the era, due to shoddy packing and shipping.
It looks like a lot of mud, but it is actually very thin in most areas. The right fender, which was used, also had some minor surface damage that needed to be smoothed.
Down to just a little Bondo and spot putty. The hood came out ok. It was a little rippley in the front even before the accident.
Beginning primer finishing, panel edge work and addressing minor surface imperfections.
