E-mail: Netscape Messenger (Communicator) v3.0

To configure Communicator for e-mail and newsgroups, open Netscape and click on Edit, then Preferences.

Identity
Click on Identity. On the right you will see a new screen with some blanks to fill out. Fill in the following information:
  • Your name: (Enter your name as you would like it to appear on e-mail you send to others.)
  • E-mail address: user@seanet.com (where user is your login name)
  • Reply-to address: (only need to fill this in if you have another e-mail address you want people to reply to)
  • Organization: (this is optional)
  • Signature File: (leave blank)

Messages
On the left side of the window, click on Messages.

On this screen, make sure of the following:

  • You can Check or Uncheck By default, send HTML messages
  • Check Automatically quote original message when replying

Mail Server
Click on Mail Server, on the left.

Fill in the following information:

  • Mail server user name: (your Seanet login name)
  • Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: mx.seanet.com
  • Incoming mail server: pop.seanet.com
  • Mail Server Type: mark POP3

Click on More Options.


More Mail Server Preferences

Check the following:

  • Check for mail every n minutes. This can be set to whatever you like.
  • Remember my mail password

Click OK.


Groups Server
On the left side of the window, click on Groups Server.

Fill in the following information:

  • Discussion groups (news) server news.seanet.com
  • Port 119
  • Uncheck Secure
  • Click OK.
