Windows 95 - Internet Setup Wizard

Web www.seanet.com

Microsoft released several different versions of Windows 95, so the screens that you see when going through the Internet Connection Wizard may vary. They might be in a different order, and some of the questions may be worded differently, but the information is the same. If, after you have gone through this process, you still can't connect you may want to look at the instructions for checking your settings, or just give us a call.

  1. To start, double-click on the The Internet icon on your Win95 Desktop, or go to your Start menu, go to Programs, Accessories, click on Internet Tools, and finally, the Internet Setup Wizard. This has been distributed as Get on the Internet on some versions, as well.
  2. The screen you see next depends on what's already been configured on your system. This help file assumes that nothing has been installed or configured and lists every possible screen, in order of appearance. If your system skips a screen, don't worry -- that just means that the feature has already been set up on your system.
  3. To continue, click the Next button.
  4. You Need a Modem!
This screen appears if Windows 95 hasn't been configured for your modem.
    Click the Next button.
  5. Install New Modem
Click the Next button after making sure that your modem is turned on and plugged in.
When your modem has been detected, click the Next button.
    * Note: If Windows does not detect a modem at this point, you'll want to consult the Windows 95 Help system and your modem's documentation for additional assistance with configuring your modem.
  6. Windows will change some setting and will tell you it's finished. Click the Finish button.
  7. Local Information
    • Enter your area code and press the tab key.
    • Enter an outside line number if you need one, then click the Next button.
  8. Click Finish. You're back to the Internet Setup Wizard.
  9. Make sure you select I already have an account with a different service provider
    Click Next.
  10. Internet Mail
Do you want to use Microsoft Exchange for Internet E-Mail...
    Select yes
    Click Next.
  11. Installing Files
Your system may not have all of the files it needs. Locate your Windows 95 CD-ROM disk or floppies, then click Next and follow the instructions on your screen.
  12. Service Provider Information
    Enter: Seanet
    Click Next.
  13. Phone Number
Enter your local Seanet dial-up telephone number.

  14. When you're finished, click Next. If you make a mistake, click on Back to get back to this screen and make corrections.
