Checking Settings in Dial-up Networking
Double-click the My Computer icon, then the Dial-up Networking folder. Right
click on the Seanet icon. Select Properties. |

General
- Put in the Seanet dial-up Number that is local to you.
- Connect Using should have your correct modem selected.
Click on the Server Type button (or tab). |

Server Types
- Server Type should be set to PPP: Windows 95, Windows NT 3.5, Internet.
- Advanced Options:
- Log On To Network, not checked.
- Enable Software Compression, checked.
- Require Encrypted Password, not checked.
- Allowed Network Protocols:
- Net BEUI, not checked.
- IPX/SPX Compatible, not checked.
- TCP/IP, checked.
Click on the TCP/IP Settings button. |

TCP/IP Settings
- Server Assigned IP Address should be selected.
- Specify Name Server Addresses should be selected.
- Primary DNS: 199.181.164.1
- Secondary DNS: 199.181.164.2
- Primary WINS: 0.0.0.0
- Secondary WINS: 0.0.0.0
- Use IP Header Compression should be checked.
- Use Default Gateway should be checked
Now, if you have made any changes, you must click OK all the way out, in order to
save the changes. |
Configuring Network Settings
Double-click the My Computer icon, then double-click the Control Panels icon,
then double-click on the Network icon. |

Configuration
- If TCP/IP is not listed as an installed protocol, click on the add button,
choose protocol, then select Microsoft as the manufacture, then TCP/IP.
- If Client for Microsoft Networks is not listed as an installed client, click on
the add button, choose client, then select Microsoft as the manufacture,
then Client for Microsoft Networks.
Highlight the Dial-up Adapter and click on Properties. |

Driver Type
- The Driver Type tab should have Enhanced Mode 16-bit and 32-bit NDIS Drivers
selected.

Bindings
- The Bindings tab should list TCP/IP, and the box should be checked. TCP/IP
should be the only item checked.

Advanced
- Record a Log File can be set to either Yes or No.
- Use IPX Header Compression should be set to Yes.
Click the OK button. |

Configuration
Highlight TCP/IP and click the Properties button. |

- Obtain IP Address Automatically should selected.

WINS Configuration
- Use DHCP for WINS Resolution should be selected.

DNS Configuration
- Disable DNS should be selected.

Bindings
- Client for Microsoft Networks should be checked.

Advanced
- This should be set to None.
Click the OK button all the way out.
Insert the Windows 95 disks/CD-ROM as prompted. If you are prompted to restart your system,
do so. |
